Helicopter has painted some of his country south of Balgo, in the Great Sandy Desert. This country is named Wangkartu after the tjurrnu (soakwater) featured in the centre of the painting. Wangkartu is an inta (living water) so always contains drinking water. The dotting surrounding the inta represent bush tucker that can be found in this area. The parallel lines in the painting represent the tali (sandhills) that dominate the country. This is the country where Helicopter was born. | |

Nora has painted a trukurrpa (dreamtime) story about the eagle, Papul, from her country near Kunawaritji (Well 33) on the Canning Stock Route. Papul is represented as the circle in the lower left hand corner. The circle near the centre of the painting depicts the cave where Papul took little boys and would eat them. The other markings represent the tali (sandhills) that dominate the surrounding countryside. | |
